# Overview

RAUM onboarding is product-aware. The steps you see depend on whether you choose **AI Assistant**, **AI Chatbot**, or **both**.

> **AI Assistant**
>
> For Zendesk teams. Connect Zendesk, create the required automation, install the Marketplace app, and optionally learn your team's Brand Voice.

> **AI Chatbot**
>
> For a customer-facing website chat widget. No Zendesk connection is required.

> **Both**
>
> Uses the full AI Assistant onboarding flow, then sends you to the Chatbot setup checklist after sign-in.

## Before you start

You need:

* a work email address;
* an account with a supported AI provider and the credentials required by that provider; and
* for AI Assistant, a Zendesk account where you can authorize the integration and install apps.

> [!NOTE]
>
> RAUM uses a bring-your-own-provider model. Your AI requests are processed through the provider you connect, while RAUM's backend coordinates the support workflow, retrieves your configured knowledge and settings, and sends the required model requests. RAUM is not an AI-capacity reseller.

## The onboarding flow

### Every signup

Every self-serve signup goes through these core steps:

1. **Product** — choose AI Assistant, AI Chatbot, or both, then choose an available plan.
2. **Account** — enter your name, work email, company name, and password.
3. **AI Engine** — connect your AI provider and choose the models RAUM should use.
4. **Verify** — enter the 6-digit code sent to your email.
5. **Finish** — open your new RAUM workspace and complete the remaining product setup.

Pricing and availability are loaded from RAUM's live offer service during onboarding. This documentation deliberately does not duplicate the current price table, because stale pricing pages are a surprisingly efficient way to create support tickets before a customer has even finished signing up.

### Additional AI Assistant steps

If your selection includes AI Assistant, onboarding also includes:

1. **Zendesk** — connect using OAuth, with API-token authentication available as a fallback.
2. **Triggers** — let RAUM create or reconcile the recommended Zendesk webhook and triggers.
3. **Zendesk app** — RAUM attempts to install or update the public RAUM AI Assistant Marketplace app automatically.
4. **Voice** — optionally start Brand Voice analysis from your team's recent public agent replies.

### Additional AI Chatbot setup

Chatbot-only signup does not ask for Zendesk credentials, triggers, or Brand Voice. After sign-in, the Chatbot setup checklist takes you through:

1. confirming an active AI model;
2. creating a web channel with exact allowed website origins;
3. configuring the widget;
4. copying the installation snippet; and
5. testing the visitor experience.

## Which guide should I follow?

> **[Choose a product and plan](https://docs.raum.am/onboarding/product-plan.md)**
>
> Understand the three product choices and how the onboarding path changes.

> **[Create and verify your account](https://docs.raum.am/onboarding/account-verification.md)**
>
> Account fields, password requirements, email verification, and what happens after verification.

> **[Connect an AI provider](https://docs.raum.am/configuration/ai-provider.md)**
>
> Add provider credentials and select chat and embedding models.

> **[Connect Zendesk](https://docs.raum.am/configuration/zendesk-setup.md)**
>
> OAuth, API-token fallback, triggers, and the Marketplace app for AI Assistant.

> [!TIP]
>
> If you are using both products, complete the Assistant/Zendesk onboarding first. After you sign in, use the Chatbot setup checklist to create and install your first web channel.
