Open Chatbot → Widgets → Languages to choose the languages visitors can use. RAUM centrally publishes the widget interface translations. Your widget selects from the currently published locale catalog rather than maintaining every system string itself.

English is always available

English cannot be disabled. Additional languages can be enabled from the published locale list. If a locale is removed and it was the default, RAUM moves the widget back to a valid enabled default.

Default language

Choose one of the enabled languages as the default locale. The default controls the initial widget interface when no more specific supported locale is selected for the visitor.

Welcome message per language

You can override the widget welcome message independently for each enabled language. If the field is left blank, RAUM uses the published default greeting for that locale. This lets you customize the opening without taking ownership of every button, error message, settings label, and other system string in the widget.

Publishing and translation availability

A widget can only publish locale configuration that corresponds to currently published RAUM widget locales. If a centrally managed locale becomes unavailable, the draft normalizes that state rather than continuing to claim support that the public runtime cannot deliver.

Forms have their own translations

Widget interface localization and Forms & Handoffs localization are related but separate. A handoff or pre-chat form must have complete customer-facing translations for each locale it declares. Publishing a multilingual widget does not automatically translate custom form labels. Forms & Handoffs →

Guidelines and answer language

Widget language controls the customer interface and conversation locale. Approved Chatbot Response Guidelines can shape answer behavior. Assistant-only Translate Guidelines are not Chatbot translation configuration.

Test each enabled locale

Before publishing, select the locale in Preview, check the custom welcome message or fallback, open configured forms, check long labels on mobile, and run representative questions in that language. The language switcher can only compensate for content that actually exists in the selected language. It is not a machine for turning English-only policy into a reviewed localized policy by moral force.
